ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Shannon O’Toole, a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach and Precision Nutrition L1 Coach with over 15 years of experience as a physical therapist specializing in orthopedic care. I have a Bachelor's of Health Science and Mater's of Physical Therapy. My passion lies in helping individuals bridge the gap between traditional medical treatments and the foundational lifestyle changes necessary for healing and long-term health.

In 2021, my personal health challenges—a hemorrhagic stroke in my brain from a cerebral cavernous malformation and recently diagnosed thyroid nodules—gave me a new perspective on healthcare. I realized the need for a deeper, root-cause approach to health beyond medications and procedures. That’s when I discovered Functional Medicine, which blends traditional medicine and the science of precision medicine with holistic, lifestyle-first solutions to chronic conditions, and what led me to pursue additional certifications as a Functional Nutrition Certified Health Coach, a Precision Nutrition L1 Coach, and a Nutritional Physical therapist, although I no longer work as a physical therapist. 

I’ve witnessed the profound impact of addressing factors like diet, sleep, hydration, movement, and stress on healing, injury prevention, and performance. These essential elements are often overlooked in traditional healthcare, yet they are critical to recovery and living an active, vibrant and healthy life!

When I’m not coaching, you’ll find me outdoors with my husband and dogs, staying active at the gym, or diving into the latest research on precision medicine, gut health, and longevity.
