5 weeks, 75 min class/week
Minimum of 5 and up to 15 members
Covers foundations of a healthy diet focusing on moving from the Standard American Diet (SAD) to a whole food and minimally processed diet.
Handouts on educational material, goal setting, and self-assessments are provided.
Each week you will be encouraged to set a personalized goal for yourself based on the weekly content and have the opportunity for group collaboration to strategize around goal setting and overcoming obstacles to ensure success.
There will be an online group chat available for members between sessions to provide continued support, collaboration, to share ideas, and ask questions. This will be monitored by the coach.
At the end of the course you will walk away feeling confident that you are able to choose foods from the grocery store and restaurants that support your health goals. You will be able to choose nutrient dense foods that provide the proper macro and micronutrients to support your health, support your physical and mental demands, and create balanced meals that will support your metabolic and immune health. You will have developed and implemented healthy habits to support this new way of eating for long term success of creating a new healthier lifestyle and not another crash diet plan!
Course Outline:
Week 1: Group intro, cultivating a mindset for success, goal setting, educational component on whole vs processed foods and hydration
Week 2: Veggies/fiber: choosing a variety of plants, focusing on quality, quantity/portion sizes, and variety
Week 3: Protein: choosing healthy protein, quality and quantity/portion sizes, timing
Week 4: Carbs: choosing healthy carbs, quality and quantity/portion sizes, understanding sugar and artificial sweeteners, reading nutrition labels
Week 5: Fats: choosing healthy fats, quality and quantity/portion sizes, cooking with oils and fats, reading nutrition labels; Review of successes and implementing long term strategies to continue meeting goals.
